ST. CLAIR TWP. — A train incident late Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 6, shut down several railroad crossings for about 2 1/2 hours in New Miami and St. Clair Twp., according to Butler County Sheriff’s dispatchers.

The train, operated by Norfolk Southern, had to stop at about 4 p.m. when two of the dollies, platforms that hold up the truck trailers, dropped down and hit the tracks, causing a lot of sparking, according to St. Clair Twp. Fire Chief Terry White.

The southbound train was blocking intersections from U.S. 127 near Trenton to Augsburger Avenue.

The dollies were cut, and by 6:30 p.m. the train was cleared, according to dispatchers.

There were no injuries and no hazardous materials aboard the train.

The Butler County Emergency Management Agency had set up a command post at the Trenton Road crossing.

I am sick of people everytime they get the chance to make fun of new miami or hamilton or any other town that needs improvement. Its not the cities fault and its not the good people who live around heres fault either. Its the nasty people who ruin any city. I can say that there are more of those people in hamilton than any other city, but thats not fair. These towns should get the respect they deserve and the funding to clean them up.

Wille--I don't think Hockey Dad meant any insult. But you are correct, New Miami is a nice village. How could it be anything else, situated adjacent to Hamilton?

"Rush hour" is a time of day for everyone who is passing through anywhere you moron. It took me a half hour to get through the light at Augspurger.
New Miami is a nice little town, why don't you get a life.
