MIDDLETOWN — A Middletown teenager was arrested by police in Dayton Tuesday, June 23, after he allegedly hit his father’s girlfriend in the face with a crowbar.

The 16-year-old Tytus Avenue juvenile was taken into custody in Huber Heights afer he fled following the alleged assault in Middletown on Monday, June 22.

Authorities charged the teen with domestic violence, obstructing official business, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and eluding and placed him in the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center in Dayton.

He was expected to be transported to the Butler County Detention Center late Tuesday, according to Middletown police juvenile Detective Janice Jones.

The alleged assault happened after the teen, apparently got into an argument with his father’s 41-year-old girlfriend, Ruthie Rose, over license plate tags, according to a Middletown police report.

The report states Rose refused to talk to the boy’s father about putting license tags on a van so the teen could drive it. The teen then became upset and at 9:28 p.m., he allegedly hit Rose in the mouth with a crowbar causing her to bleed, according to the report.

Rose was later treated at Atrium Medical Center for her injuries.

According the report, the teen left his Tytus Avenue home in a white Ford van before police arrived. The juvenile reportedly drove the van through a gate behind the house before heading down a nearby alley.
