MASON — The first of several pieces for the WindSeeker, Kings Island’s newest ride, arrived at the park earlier this week, park officials said.
When completed, the $5 million “swing ride” will take 64 riders at a time – two to an open seat – to a height of 301 feet and move them at 30 mph around a tower at a 45-degree angle.
Riders will be pulled up the tower in less than one minute while circling it, getting an expansive view of the area in the process. The speed will pull riders out to the 45-degree angle as their legs are left to dangle. The ride will then descend at the same speed, for a total ride time of approximately 3 minutes.
Vertical construction of the ride will begin later this month. Kings Island officials said the remainder of the rides pieces are en route and expected to arrive later this week.
This is the park’s first new ride since Diamondback roller coaster in 2009. The ride will open to the public April 30.
