MONROE — Monroe Local Schools has hired its final allotment of certified and classified personnel this year to replace personnel who have retired or left the district.
The most recent new employees brings the total to 30 brought on by the start of the new school year, said Broc Bidlack, the district’s director of personnel and business affairs.
Among the new hires is Stephanie Friend, a Butler Tech online tech aid, who graduated from Miami University with a bachelor’s of science degree in education.
She has 11 years of teaching experience in language arts between Ohio and Florida, Bidlack said.
JoAnna Rummel is replacing Kristyn Walters as an elementary paraprofessional. Walters had served as an elementary paraprofessional in the district for a couple of years and decided to leave the district to pursue a teaching position with Talawanda Schools, he said.
Rummel obtained her bachelor’s degree in human ecology from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree in middle childhood education from Antioch University McGregor in Yellow Springs now known as Antioch University Midwest.
Bidlack said these new employees are not additional staff members to the district.
“Even though it’s 30 new faces to our district many of those are replacing staff members that have left or retired,” he said.
