HAMILTON — The Butler County Emergency Management Agency will start the holidays by preparing for a terrorist attack or hazardous materials spill.

A training exercise by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will train emergency responders on using the county’s decontamination trailer at the West Chester Medical Center on Nov. 24.

The trailer, purchased this year with Homeland Security funds, can decontaminate up to 300 people per hour after an exposure to weapons of mass destruction, chemical or biological agents, or a hazardous materials accident.

The classroom and hands-on training will take place Nov. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“Thanks to a federal homeland security grant, we are able to participate in this critical training,” said EMA Director Jeff Galloway. “Should an emergency situation arise, this training will prepare us so that we can act quickly and efficiently to keep our citizens and emergency responders safe.”

Training attendees will include EMA staff, and fire and hazardous material personnel from the cities of Middletown and Hamilton, and West Chester Twp.

Having participated in several of these exercises. they always remind me of the story about the monkey and a football.

That means Galloway can decontaminate everyone in Butler County in only 50 hours. Don't you feel real safe knowing that.

The nazi's bragged they could "decontaminate" 300 Jews an hour also. I think I will stay far away from this "decontamination trailer" (gas chamber).

I wonder how many billions of dollars we will spend preparing for the wrong type of terrorist attack while we overlook the one they will use.
