FRANKLIN — A healthcare services company is planning to add 100 new jobs here within the next year.

Valued Relationships Inc. is restructuring its Economic Development Loan Agreement with the city in order to expand its facility in Franklin.

The city is increasing its loan amount by $200,000 and adding a year to the original agreement to help fund a VRI expansion project which would add 100 jobs.

“They have decided to make Franklin their home,” Franklin Mayor Scott Lipps said. “We invested hoping they would grow, so it’s pretty good news they have come back this quick with wanting to double their workforce.”

VRI came to Franklin in 2010 with the promise of growing to 300 jobs in five years. The company currently has 140 employees.

The original loan agreement was for $250,000 over a three-year term with the funds to be used for relocating the company from West Carrollton. The city is increasing the loan amount to $450,000.

The city also has restructured the guaranteed combined income tax withholdings to $75,000 for the first year and $125,000 for the remaining three years.

“It’s been a great experience so far,” said Chris Hendriksen, VRI president of operations and business development. “We’ve got an exciting new project that will get us 100-125 more employees next year.”

Hendriksen would only say the project is related to “significant new national partnerships that will allow for faster expansion.”

“We’re focused on watching these new partnerships in patient monitoring to keep people safe and in their homes,” Hendriksen said.

VRI has more than 20 years of experience as a healthcare services company and is one of the largest providers of telemonitoring, medication adherence and medical alert systems in the country. Its services enable seniors, the chronically ill and those with disabilities to maintain their independence and avoid long term care facilities and hospitalization.

“It’s fantastic news,” Franklin City Manager Sonny Lewis said. “I saw an article the other day about Honda bringing 150 jobs to Dayton, and right here in Franklin we’re bringing 100 more to our area.

“It shows you what can be done when you partner with the businesses in your town.” he continued. “We’re proud to have this company in the city.”

Franklin lost 81 jobs in 2011 when the Franklin Boxboard Corp., closed its doors. The paper mill had been in the city for more than 100 years.

VRI was founded in 1989 in Cincinnati and currently serves more than 70,000 clients in the United States.
