H1N1 clinic today for Middletown students

Staff Report Updated 12:49 AM Saturday, November 7, 2009

MIDDLETOWN — Parents of Middletown City School students who have already submitted consent forms for their children to have a flu vaccine to their school should report to Johnston Hall on the Miami University Middletown campus between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. today, Nov. 7.

“The Middletown Health Department decided it would expedite distribution of the flu shots if they had a large ministration rather than travel from building to building,” said school spokeswoman Debbie Alberico.

An additional date will be scheduled. Parents who have not yet filled out a consent form may download one at www.middletowncityschools.com at give it to the nurse at their child’s school building to be inoculated at the next H1N1 clinic scheduled.

With such short notice, we already had other things scheduled for Saturday morning. Had they extended the time longer than just 4 hours, we could have been there later in the day. I was very disappointed to hear they were not doing this in the schools. I am curious to see the percentage of people like us that had filled out the consent form, but could not be there in time.

It was exceptionally well organized. Everyone working there was extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. I was surprised-with all the students that were to be vaccinated, they were the most efficient group of people I've ever met! What a wonderful job you did! We were in and out in under ten minutes-and I have 3 school-age children- a 5 year old and 2 four-year olds. Congrats on a job done well!

They were smart and organized (no cattle drive). We arrived just before 11AM and were out in 10 minutes. It is relief to have the first set of shots for my under age 10 kids! THANK YOU!
