The Middletown Board of Education will interview interim superintendent candidates next week after five people expressed interest in the position.
The board will conduct interviews privately starting at 4 p.m. Monday, July 16. Board President Greg Tyus declined to say who they will see.
The applicants are:
• G. Ronald Bickert, former Beavercreek City Schools superintendent, who is working as president of Ohio Public School Dialogue.
• Norris Brown, who served five months as Middletown’s interim superintendent in 2003. Brown worked for six years as Middletown’s pupil personnel director and most recently retired as superintendent of Jefferson Twp. Local Schools near Dayton.
• Aaron Mackey, who served as superintendent of Princeton City Schools until July 2008. Mackey is teaching school law at Wright State University.
• Dianne Suiter, principal of Middletown’s Central Academy. Suiter also has experience from high school to elementary, public and private, rural to urban and also taught university courses.
• Scott Wilson, a retiree with 16 years of experience as a superintendent, most recently served as superintendent in Fairfield Local Schools in Leesburg, Ohio.
During a special meeting Monday, July 6, the board also continued its discussion on consultant firms to lead the search for a superintendent.
The board could not come to a consensus on any of the three firms it heard proposals from last month, but agreed to ask the Ohio School Boards Association for more information, including whether the OSBA would be willing to actively identify districts that meet the criteria established by the community and solicit candidates from both in and outside of Ohio and from public, private and charter schools.
The board will have a special meeting at 7 p.m. July 14 to continue the discussion.

Will the candidate support Chief Sauter's efforts to end the unruly student chaos in our schools, and hold accountable all administrators who have enabled such conduct?
To restore safety, and learning, in our schools, the new superintendent must adopt Chief Sauter's common sense agenda.

Do yourself a favor and do not hire Dr. Bickert. Beavercreek was a BETTER district to be rid of him...Middletown can do better.
