ROSS TWP. — Plans for a winter wedding were scrapped when a future bride’s life was tragically cut short in a car crash.

Leanna Hollon, 20, was pulling out of her parents’ driveway about 10:43 a.m. Thursday, July 30, in the 2700 block of Morgan Ross Road, when she apparently did not see a sport-utility vehicle before it struck her car, said Ross Twp. police Chief Carl Worley.

Hollon died at the scene. Her fiance, Kevin Bradley, 23, riding in the front passenger seat, was injured in the crash and transported to University Hospital in Cincinnati.

Bradley told police his fiancee, who was driving a green Saturn, did not see an oncoming GMC Yukon driven by Kristin Huffman, 38, of Ross Twp., when Hollon attempted to make a left turn onto the street. Huffman and her 5-year-old son were not injured. No charges will be filed in the accident, Worley said. Huffman had right of way and was traveling just under the speed limit at the time of the crash, according to the traffic report.

Always the jokester and not afraid to be frank, Hollon also was “one of the sweetest persons I know” and a loving mother to her son Conner, who will be turning 2 in the fall, said her friend Carrie Weisman, who grew up attending the same church as Hollon.

“She raised (Conner) as a single mother and has done everything she could to make sure he was taken care of,” she said.

Hollon met her fiance, who lived in California, at a church event in Florida more than a year ago. He proposed in March when Hollon made a visit to the West Coast.

“It’s probably the happiest I’ve ever seen her,” said Weisman from the hospital where Bradley is recovering.

The purple-and-silver themed wedding was set for December at the Newport Syndicate in Kentucky, said Weisman, who would have been maid of honor.

Hollon began taking classes in communication and Spanish at Miami University Hamilton this summer, and had recently purchased a fixer-upper in Springdale and was diligent about painting, finding new appliances and landscaping the yard.

“It’s been a rough day,” Weisman said, adding that fellow church members and friends have taken condolences and food to the Hollon house.
