Maybe this new guy can come in and find out where the $35 million dollars we taxpayers put up for a new radios system went. Three years later, the sheriff is in charge of it and from what I hear it will be another year if ever that all police and fire departments are on the system. The system was turned in August that meaning the first years free maintenance on the system is over and no one has even used the system. Now the radios purchased are not the newest model, we got the old stuff.

Some helpful hints to the new EMA Director: If Liberty Twp needs ice call the Sheriff. If you need someone to hog the TV cameras and say nothing call the Sheriff. If you need someone to pout and cry if he doesn't get his way call the Sheriff. Bottom line, in case of a real emergency, don't call the Sheriff. The local responders do quite well without him.

I'm shocked, I thought Rob Smith the self taught computer nerd, fireman, with no education, who runs Hamilton would be offered the job with a minor pay increase of 33% from his previous position.

Great news, the Police Chiefs and Sheriff now have a firefighter as their EMA Director. Boy's how did that happen?

Frank makes a good point. Jeff, I think I’d have had a talk with the Campbell County, Kentucky EMA director before I’d leaped into this job. Your bosses here don’t know what they want, will not support you, and you will get caught in the cross fire between the sheriff and cops and the fire chiefs. Good luck man you’ve got the worst job in this county.

I give this poor fellow six months till the frustration drives him out of this mess of a county. When he starts dealing with King Richard, the Little Emperor Donnie Dixon, the twelve wise men (police chiefs), over twenty fire chiefs, and the 300,000 citizen’s that want someone to take care of them he’ll wish he stayed in the Volunteer State. I wonder if they told him the county is broke and he's got to solve their problems with no money.

Darn! Billy Becker didn't end up with the job. That's a shame as we could have used some help getting him off Council, replacing him with new blood.

If he was smart he'd stay in Tennessee! Guess they pulled the wool over his eyes.

What does the two county commisioners and local police chiefs know about emergency response to begin with? How could they be critical about anyone who knows anything about emergency response? Crisis Management is a full time job. Check out the processes he puts in place, the training he is allowed to proceed with and then step back and critique. Let's hope we never have to use the processes! Of course we could always call our glamorous sheriff's department for help!
