FRANKLIN TWP. — An 87-year-old woman struck by a motorcycle Saturday afternoon, Nov. 14, remains in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, a hospital official said Monday morning.

Leah Wideman was walking to her mailbox about 1:10 p.m. Saturday when she was struck in the roadway by a motorcycle driven by John Goonan, 37, of Springboro, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Goonan was driving his 1994 Harley-Davidson while Wideman was waking to her mailbox across Robinson-Vail Road near Ohio 122. She was flown to MVH by medical helicopter.

According to the patrol, Goonan attempted to stop but his motorcycle fell on its side, striking Wideman. Goonan received only minor injuries and was not taken to a hospital.

The crash remains under investigation, but alcohol or drugs are not factors, the patrol stated Saturday.
