MIDDLETOWN — Police released a surveillance video image Wednesday, Aug. 26, to ask the public for help identifying a man who last week robbed Advance America Cash Advance at gunpoint.

The suspect at 4:40 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, held up the business at 4778 Roosevelt Blvd., by pointing a black semi-automatic handgun to a clerk’s face. He demanded cash and told the clerk to get down on the floor, according to police.

The suspect — described as a white male in his mid-30s wearing a white baseball cap, white shirt and blue jeans — left the store in an unknown direction with an undetermined amount of money, said Middletown police Detective Mark Specht.

The female clerk was alone in the store when the robbery occurred, but was not injured.

She told police the man had been in the store about two hours prior to the robbery, and returned to commit the crime.

Upon police arrival, officers set up a perimeter around the store, but no one was able to locate the man. A police canine had an unsuccessful track as investigators attempted to collect evidence from the scene.

Detectives have obtained surveillance photos from the man’s first visit to the store that day.

Anyone who recognizes the man or has information is asked to call Specht at (513) 425-7737.

Are they sure they have the correct person in the picture ? The article says he was wearing a white Tee-Shirt and White baseball cap. This guy is wearing neither, looks like a gray shirt and no cap.

If any of you actually worked in a bank or handled money for a living you would no how dangerous and real this situation is. Tellers usually quit their jobs or go to therapy to cope with the emotions and anger of being robbed, sometimes point blank. If you can actually help identify this person, please do so, if not **** off. Someone could have been killed. And with the recession, I am surprised this isn't happening more, with all the check cashing places middletown has to offer and all.

This is something serious... funny how childish some people can be. You all need to GROW UP. (its time). If you have so much time on your hands to where you can make jokes about an armed robbery then maybe you should find a job or hobby. It wouldnt be so funny if you were the one being robbed and needed the communities help to find him.
