MIDDLETOWN— The Broad Street Bash has announced its 2010 lineup, which both reintroduces local acts and adds more headlining regional acts to the summer block party.

The Bash typically runs every other week on Wednesdays in the summer, featuring the musicians as well as a variety of food vendors and activities, including games for kids. The lineup runs as follows, according to Tim Lewis, who books the bands.

•May 19: Three Feet Deep and Will Fluke. These are both Middletown-based bands selected to open the Bash. Local bands had been part of the Bash in previous years, and Lewis thought bringing them back would be a good way to kick off the season and highlight local talent.

•June 2: Stagger Lee. This country rock band is a mainstay of the Bash, having played there multiple times.

•June 16: Off the Hook. This 10-piece funk/rock combo is the house band at Jag’s, an upscale West Chester Twp. restaurant.

•June 30: The Menus. This classic rock band is well known for its zany stage antics, and their appearance at prior bashes have drawn some of the event’s largest crowds.

•July 14: Rusty Griswolds. This Cincinnati-based classic rock group makes its Broad Street Bash debut.

•July 28: After Midnight: Another classic rock band, this group played the Manchester Inn earlier this month at a tribute concert for the late Middletown businessman Perry Thatcher.

•Aug. 11: The Cleavers. This classic rock band, also Bash veterans, closes out the season.

All concerts will be in Governor’s Square Park at the intersection of Broad Street and Central Avenue in Middletown. For all shows, vendors will open at 5 p.m., and the bands will start playing at 6 p.m.

The bash enters its fourth season this year.

“It’s a good time in the summer,” Lewis said. “The regional bands have brought people from out of town. People get used to it and they spread the word.”

Love the broad street bash! It brings back memories of Sunset Park festivals and many community events that we just don't have anymore. I can promise I'll be in attendance for every single one. Support local music!
