Biden coming to Ohio for stimulus tour

Hot Topics

WASHINGTON — Vice President Joe Biden plans to come to Cincinnati on Thursday to see how the city is using some of its federal economic stimulus money.

And Carter sure decimated the military by developing the Trident Submarine, B-2 Bomber, Stealth Aircraft and cruise missles during his term. I'm sure that Obama and Biden knew the economy was pretty well wacked when they took office. I knew, and I'm not a congressman.

Continued::::: That leaves the government with the ability to spend enough to end the recession. Government spending has ended every recession since the depression. And yes WWII ended the depression by promoting massive government spending. Now as far as taxes, the stimulus bill lowered your taxes $400 this year and next. $800 in you are married. It would of been $500/$1000 dollars but Republican Senators demanded the $400/$800 level. I guess you weren't the right tax cut for them.

Tony::::I must ask where you get that anyone said anything about "taxing your way out of recession?" I think you must mean spending your way out of recession. Now any good economist will tell you the only way to end any recession is to spend more. Now in a recession, most businesses are making less so they spend less. Also consumers are spending less as unemployment climbs.

This whole Administration is a JOKE. The only thing they stimulate is their travel miles and party spending at the White House. And don't forget all the wonderful clothing the Lady of the Garden and her kids. As a black woman, I am ashamed that Michelle Obama is now known for her work in the garden.......like working on the plantation! This whole thing is a disgrace!

Fattrack -

You and JG are what the Russians call "Useful Idiots"! for all your propaganda. Show an example of taxing your way out of a recession. Carter tried, didn't work, he then decimated the military, (and it's esprit de corp), to pay for all the social projects he wanted and guess what BHO is doing the same thing. If you think the results are going to be any different this time your wrong. BHO/Biden both knew the state of the economy, they were both sitting US Senators.

And some more from the link, "Former Republican Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Newt Gingrich also stated: "In all fairness, it's something Gore had worked on a long time. Gore is not the Father of the Internet, but in all fairness, Gore is the person who, in the Congress, most systematically worked to make sure that we got to an Internet,..."" There is plenty of information about the whole thing at the link I gave. Feel free to give it a look.

No Joe didn't make that claim, but then neither did Al Gore. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Gor...#cite_note-18 This is the Quote "During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country's economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system." And he did push the initiatives.

An earmark is an attachment another congressional bill. It is a way to circumvent the normal process of a bill going to committee, being debated, then voted on. The earmark is rarely mentioned as the original bill makes it's way through congress. Pork barrel spending is a term applied to appropriations bills that generally benefit a state or district within a state. A congressman that "Brings home the bacon" has engaged in pork barrel spending.

JG - and just how is your piddling around about the "difference" between earmarks & pork spending and whether B-HO was talking about US territories vs US States furthering any debate on the real issues?
Yes I am fully aware that I brought up both those issues, but was someone with you at your keyboard with a gun to your head forcing you to respond? Although being a leftie loonie you would probably crap yourself if you even see a picture of a gun. I hope B-HO is paying you well for your service.
Kellee
2:39 PM, 7/8/2009
Did you see Kellee how in your last 2 posts you did absolutely nothing to further the debate on the issues?
Imagine where we would be without the bailouts and the stimulus. The banks would have failed. Millions more jobs would be lost because there would be absolutely no credit for businesses to do their business. Even Bush said that sometimes you have to give up ideology in a crisis and that's why he signed the first half of the bailout into law. Without this we would have already collapsed

1:49 PM, 7/8/2009
Travis::::::I realize that is a long period of time. I know there is not a quick and easy fix for the problems we face. We need jobs and we need them as fast as we can create them. The government can only do so much. The current administration has the best plan possible in place to create jobs. That's not much consolation to all the unemployed right now, who want to work. But it is what we have to work with, and if we can work together, we will get through this mess.

11:54 AM, 7/8/2009
Yes I did bring up the 57 states remark and I posted B-HO's quote about earmarks. You are the one playing with the words - saying that earmarks and pork are different things and you are the one who said that B-HO was referring to the US territories as well when he said 57 states. You are a typical liberal - just like the Wizard of OZ - pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. Most folks with a scintilla of common sense see thru that and B-HO's rating in Ohio is starting to reflect that.

I think we actually did begin to discuss the real issues-- taxes, health care, etc instead of calling names. Kellee you're the one that brought up states and some other guy brought up earmarks. I'm just replying from the liberal point of view.

Of course JG is a democrap. He wastes his time arguing about terminology - earmark vs pork, states vs territories - po-tay-to, po-tah-to. Then turning around and saying we should be discussing the "real issues" - true Dem "Do as I say not as I do" fashion.

I'll bet he LOVED Bubba's classic:

"It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is. If the--if he--if 'is' means is and never has been, that is not--that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement"

yes the territories have primaries too, but they are NOT states. You might want to get new hearing aid batteries JG. If you listen to the soundbyte he very distinctly says "We've been to all 57 states", not "states & territories"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpGH...

Actually he says he's been to 57 & has 1 to go - so there are 58 states? Then he goes on to say he couldn't go to AK & HI - that's 60!

JG, if you read the studies, the increases in taxes will hit EVERYONE since his policies increased taxes at the state and local level as well as us being able to plan on paying off the additional debt. Also if you look at the additional costs for a small business in the cap and trade, more regulation to keep up with, additional taxes on it then I will be paying a LOT more in taxes, just some are hidden and not slapped on as federal income taxes.
Quentin
2:54 AM, 7/8/2009
Fast on the excuses for his lack of actions. He takes credit for Iraq being safer so he gets the blame too. I bid on homes, businesses and governemnt construction and it is a joke. Energy efficient products cost more as we all know and even government agencies refuse to spend the extra money though I have a proven product that saves a lot more after a few years. You can't spend upfront what you don't have unless you are the government who is too busy buying GM and banks.
Quentin
2:48 AM, 7/8/2009
Quentin:::

None of the stimulus money has gone to the banks or automakers. You have confused the stimulus funds with the TARP funds. The stimulus bill has lowered taxes by $400 this year and next. Thanks to Senate Republicans your tax credit is $400 instead of $500. There is plenty of credits to home owners and businesses for energy conservation. That makes me wonder why your business is left out.
fattrak
9:41 PM, 7/7/2009
Yeah Adams was such a great president. He passed the Alien and Sedition Acts that outlawed speech against the government. That's why the Federalists never won an election again. Quentin, the Dems don't want you to pay more taxes. Just the top income brackets--the same rate under Clinton.
JG
8:57 PM, 7/7/2009
Wow. This thread has gotten popular. The 57 states thing. That was during the primary campaign Remember, not just states have primaries. 50 states + DC + Puerto Rico + Guam + American Samoa + Virgin Islands +Democrats Abroad. That's 56 contests, he added 1 by mistake. That's what he was talking about.
JG
8:52 PM, 7/7/2009
I own a small business and it involves energy conservation but so far all the money for the "stimulus" goes strictly to banks and automakers or political friends of OBH and Biden. Neither party is worth crap with the way they keep spending like drunken monkeys but I am sick of hearing all these great things about Obama from the same pople who tell me I need to work more and pay more taxes so they can have a handout! Work two jobs like I am doing instead!

7:46 PM, 7/7/2009
Travis, I know you are wondering where the jobs are. This was what they were expecting to generate. "Obama's advisers say an $850 billion plan could generate about 3.2 million jobs by the first quarter of 2011." Nobody promised overnight results. We've been losing 500,000 jobs a month since last summer. The pace seems to be slowing. We don't get to choose the times we live in. We choose how we live in the times we have.

- stand up Chuck! - to a man in a wheelchair

and let's not forget B-HO's remark about having been to all "57" states.

His proposal includes tax cuts of up to $300 billion — including $500 for most individuals and $1,000 for couples if one spouse is employed — as well as more than $100 billion for businesses. Funny how the only way the Senate Republicans would sign on to the stimulus bill was to reduce the tax cuts to $400/$800. And both parties shot down his proposal of tax breaks to businesses for each american job they created.

I just took a quick look at the link Kellee provided. It says Obama would ban earmarks from the stimulus bill. There were No Earmaks attached to the stimulus bill. The only bill singed by Obama was the budget bill for fiscal year 2009. That bill was a budget submitted by the previous president, and left hanging. Instead of shutting down the government, or working through another stopgap spending measure and renegotiating Bush's budget, Obama signed the bill.

Maybe the Can Co. plant should be turned into a different manufacturing plant?

If we can't realistically expect B-HO to eliminate pork/earmarks (po-tay-to/po-tah-to, 6 vs half dozen) - and I have no faith that he can or even wants to - then why did he say he would ban all of them - not cut down on them. His exact words were "ban all earmarks" - his words, not a paraphrase. Click on the link in my post, his quote is right there.

Right Kellee. Cut, not eliminate. Pork barrel spending in not necessarily earmarked. Earmarks are what Obama described. Pork barrel spending is when federal money is used for projects that benefit a particular district. Allowing the president a "line item veto" to cut it out of bills goes beyond constitutional checks and balances. It has to be up to Congress to cut it, not the president.

They don't condemn the use of SUV's and comfortable temperatures. You are just looking at it from the wrong angle. They talk about the economic incentives of driving fuel efficient cars and lowering utility bills. Doing these things will save people money, which will make people better off, which will therefore stimulate the economy. In the long run, this will prevent climate change. People should think of global warming as an economic issue.

We need statesmen and women by the boatload, and someone to lead us. Tough to get through the liberal media filters, however. Yet we still wait, wait, wait......

Who invited him? Go home joe, you're not needed here, we have enough here without you.

Though I would love to have the chance to see him stick his foot in his mouth once again, I could care less to hear what he has to say. I still would rather have seen the stimulus money go directly into the wallets of the American people from whom it came!

I'm predicting a repeat of the crowds Bidumdumm faced in Erie, Pennsylvania. So few sheep that the staff will remove the chairs to make it look like there is a large crowd for the benefit of the MSM.

Kellee,
The president is expected to travel and give speeches. If he didn't, and gave satellite speeches, you guys would call him Kim Jong Il and complain that he wasn't in the public. They have to drive armored SUV's and fly Air Force One to protect him from right wing extremists. And Berryboy, you're right. Though he has been more transparent than most presidents, we haven't seen these things to the extent that he campaigned on them. And no, transparency, etc are not real issues.

Say home Joe. We don't need you. We don't need a stimulus from DC either. We just need BO and the fed. govt. to stay out of our way and out of our pockets and let the private sector decide what businesses succeed or fail.

Does he think anyone will actually show up? I can't believe obama lets him go out in public, let the gafs begin. As always the talking fool should be a hilarious.

To all that see through the facade of Obama, it's too bad we have to live with his crushing errors in judgment. Obama has quickly ruined the US, and fostered lie after lie during his campaign. He bought votes from the underclass with his promises. And, there are still idiots that think he's "great". Obama has caused more damage to this country fiscally than all past presidents combined. He's no more than a fraud.

John your a idiot!

What in the world does Cheney have to do with what Biden does? All he's going to do is waste our time and resources by tying up the roads and the police. To do what? Tell us how bad the economy is? Guess what, we already know this Quit campaining, last I checked you won the job. The campaign is over, now go back to DC and do the job you were elected to do.

Classy guy John, wanting to shoot me. Get out of your mom's basement and get a grip.

I bet it costs $1.6 million for Biden and his entourage to travel to Cincinnati for a day.

Hopefully soon people will wake up from their B-HO coma and realize the emperor has no clothes. Common sense has to prevail.

I would love to debate the issues. Name me one MSM that does that. They spin everything with their invective elitism. How about the issue of transparency that was promised? Where is that one? How about allowing five days of public comment before signing bills? How about not appointing political donors to ambassadorships? How about not hiring lobbyists? How about disclosing white house visitor lists? Oh, right these aren't "issues" are they. They are just the truth.

JG - Bush did his share of traveling, as do all Presidents & VP's. But he wasn't constantly yammering on about global warming (or is it "climate change" this week?) and chastising us for driving SUV's, or telling us what to set our thermostats on. If B-HO is so "eco-friendly" why did he fly to Chicago a few weeks ago to give a 2 hour speech? Why not just do it via satellite? Why fly to NYC & back with Michelle for their "date night"? Why not take Biden's precious AMTRAK? Hypocrisy's a b***h.

I wonder how many morons in Tipp City who lost their jobs voted for a Jack *** on the campaign trail in 2004 that said "Outsourcing is good for the economy"! Probably Paul!

JG, Bush wasn't the one whining about "global warming" and "carbon footprints". The Demolibs want to whine about carbon emissions, but it seems inapplicable to their own actions. The Demolibs just passed what will be the final "death tax" on the USA with the clean air act. Manufacturers will flock to China, and your own electric bill will triple. Obama and Biden have caused irreperable damage to the USA, and most fools don't even understand what has happened. You are one of those morons!

If Joe wants to see our stimulus dollars at work, he can come up to Dayton and watch NCR pack their bags and move to Atlanta!

Remember when Obama said all we had to do was make sure our tires where inflated properly and that would alleviate the energy problem in this country and people laughed at him and he said we are being "ignorant". Well, isn't this "ignorant" to think that a million dollars is going to save Ohio? Another collective brain drain. Reminds me of the movie "Being There" with Peter Sellers. And, Sarah Palin is supposed to be the dumb one and Obama a genius. Give me a break.

I bet all you guys didn't complain about Bush traveling. Come on... All of these important political issues and you guys want to complain about airplanes. Why can't the real issues be debated?

Right on Paul! On one hand they fly around like it's nothing, and on the other they preach at everyone else about their "carbon footprint".

On the bright side, it's a chance to see Joe "The Human Blooper" Biden in person! I can't wait to see/hear what he comes up with while in Cincinnati. God help us all.
