LEBANON — Soldiers from the Lebanon-based Ohio Army National Guard unit will return today, March 22 after a ninth-month deployment in Iraq.
Maj. Gen. Gregory L. Wayt, Ohio adjutant general, will honor about 130 Soldiers from the Ohio Army National Guard’s B Troop, 2nd Squadron, 107th Cavalry Regiment.
The public is invited to the unit’s welcome home ceremony at 1 p.m. at the Urbancrest Baptist Church, 2634 Drake Road, Lebanon.
The unit was tasked as a convoy security element attached to the 155th Brigade Combat Team. Throughout the deployment, they provided route security for hundreds of support missions and delivered thousands of tons of material to locations throughout Iraq, without any casualties or serious injuries.
The unit, which left in May 2009, is based out of Lebanon, but includes soldiers from Lebanon, Greenville, Hamilton and other local areas.
