20 cats killed in house fire

HAMILTON — Twenty cats were believed to have died of smoke inhalation in a house fire that broke out around 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, according to Hamilton fire officials.

Crews responded to a report of a fire at 400 Mill Road. No one was home at the time of the blaze and no other injuries were reported.

The fire started and was contained to a back bedroom, but the home sustained smoke damage throughout. Fire crews cleared the scene after about two hours.

Total damages are estimated at $60,000, according to Deputy Fire Chief Greg Robbins.
