MONROE — An infant was stabbed by his 2-year-old brother while his mother was momentarily upstairs, according to police.
Monroe police responded to the Middletown Doctor’s Urgent Care at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, May 21, to a report that a 5-month-old boy had stab wounds to his chest and stomach. The incident happened just before 2 p.m. at the family’s home in the 700 block of Todhunter Road, said Monroe police Sgt. Tom Cobaugh.
The wounds were described as small and superficial that were inflicted by the baby’s 2-year-old brother, who apparently had to climb onto a desk to retrieve the knife, his father told Journal media partner WKRC-TV Local12.
The baby’s nicks, which were close to the heart area, were bandaged and he was sent home, according to the family.
No charges will be filed, Cobaugh said.
Police said video games depicting violence belonging to a teenage brother may have played a role, but the parents disagreed, saying the 2-year-old doesn’t play with or watch the older boy’s X-Men games.
