Mirrors are a great accessory that can really jazz up any home. However, purchasing mirrors at a decorating store can cost you hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. Here is a simple mirror that you can make for just $9.98. These mirrors are great because you can buy all different sizes from your local crafts store and even cut the skewers to vary the lengths or design of each mirror. Fill up a large empty wall with a great grouping of three or five.

You will need

Purchased:

• Mirror: $2.99 at Michael’s

• Wooden skewers: $2 at Kroger

• Silver spray paint: $4.99 at Michael’s

Items I already had around the house:

• Gorilla Glue

• Mouse pad

• Styrofoam sheet

Directions

1. Using a Styrofoam sheet, place each of your wooden skewers into the foam with the pointed end down.

2. Spray two coats of paint onto your skewers, making sure to cover all sides evenly. Let dry.

3. Glue your mouse pad to the back side of your mirror, leaving about a one-inch border around the mouse pad. This will give you room to slide your skewers in between the mouse pad and mirror.

4. Once your skewers are completely dry, use your Gorilla Glue to completely coat about one inch up from the pointed end of the skewer. Place the skewer between the mouse pad and the backside of the mirror.

5. Think of your piece as a clock. Start by putting skewers at 3, 6, 9 and 12. From there, fill in each section until you have an even distribution of skewers around your entire mirror. Let this dry completely.

6. Once this is dry, place Gorilla Glue around the border of your mouse pad so that your ends are secured in place. Gluing the edges of the mouse pad back down to your mirror will secure your mouse pad in place and will lower the risk of your skewers coming loose.

7. Let everything dry completely and then hang your new decoration up on your wall and enjoy!
