Club news

Event club met for lunch

The Middletown Current Events Club had their Holiday Luncheon on Dec. 3 at the First Christian Church. It was catered by Number Two Son. The Performing Arts Academy provided entertainment, which was led by Nina Markle.

Retired teachers met

The Butler County Retired Teachers Association met at the Fairfield Community Arts Center on Dec. 6. Christmas music was provided by the Fairfield Choraliers. Members continued to donate food items, which went to the Mercy Fransciscan Center this month, pillows for the One Way Farm and pop can tabs for the Ronald MacDonald House. The next general membership meeting will be April 9, at the Voice of America Park in West Chester with a speaker from the Cincinnati Preservation Association.

Teachers club met

Middletown Women Teacher’s Club held its meeting Dec. 4 at The Inn at Renaissance Village. A musical program was presented by Brian Shepard and member Barbara Shepard for the residents and the members. Summer Howarth, Girl’s State Representative spoke to the membership about her experience there and thanked them for their sponsorship. Club members brought donations of children’s clothing for the Clothing Depot and new books for the Well Child Clinic. The next meeting is March 5 at the Verity Lodge.

Garden club met

Shovel and Hoe Garden Club met at the home of President Priscilla Lane on Dec. 3, for their annual Christmas party. The next meeting will be Feb. 25, at the home of Wanda Campbell. The program will be Allyson’s Garden with Allyson Horton discussing new varieties of plant materials available for spring, summer and fall planting. The speaker for the March 25 meeting will be Jeff Michel, who will discuss Keep Middletown Beautiful at the home of member Neila Barnes.
