Several precincts in the southern portion of Warren County are already seeing turnout today, Nov. 3 close to predicted levels with less than six hours left to vote.

Two precincts in Hamilton Twp. are close to the 30 percent turnout predicted by Warren County Board of Elections Director Keir Holeman. Voter numbers around 12:45 p.m. showed that two precincts at Little Miami Middle School were at 27 and 26.7 percent, respectively.

Voters there are voting for the Little Miami school levy and the hotly contested township trustee race.

Turnout percentages in 20 other random precincts in the county range from a low of 7.8 percent in a South Lebanon precinct to 16 percent and 20 percent at precincts in Springboro and Waynesville.

Holeman said 7,354 absentee ballots were requested and 6,370 have been filed. There are 142,617 registered voters in the county.

This is Holeman’s first local election with the county but he said researched past elections to make his prediction.

“I padded it a couple percent because the casino and other issues like that might get some people out. I think 25 percent is pretty low and 30 percent is pretty high in these types of elections.”

Today voters will choose new city and village councilmen, township trustees, decide two county-wide tax levies and a host of individual tax issues.

The polls will be open until 7:30 p.m.
