MONROE — Three newcomers were elected to the Monroe Schools Board of Education Tues., Nov. 3, unseating two incumbents on the board.
John MacDonald was the top votegetter with 2,039 votes or 26.93 percent, according to the unofficial preliminary election results from the Butler County Board of Elections.
He was one of five candidates vying for three seats on the board.
MacDonald was followed by Leslie Stone, who came in second with 1,641 votes or 21.67 percent. Brett Guido came in third with 1,441 votes or 19.03 percent.
They defeated incumbents Tom Leeds, who was seeking his second four-year term on the board, who came in fourth with 1,379 votes or 18.21 percent and Mike Irwin, who also was seeking his second four-year term on the board, came in fifth with 1,072 votes or 14.16 percent.
In Warren County, incumbent Tom Leeds was the top votegetter with 20 votes or 28.57 percent.
MacDonald came in second with 19 votes or 27.14 percent followed by Stone with 17 votes or 24.29 percent.
Irwin came in fourth with 11 votes or 15.71 percent followed by Guido with 3 votes or 4.29 percent.
