Franklin voters return Centers, Bray, Aldridge

Council veterans pledge to keep an eye on public spending.

FRANKLIN — Voters re-elected council members Michael Aldridge, Carl Bray, and mayor Dennis Centers to Franklin City Council Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Final, unofficial votes showed Bray and Centers overwhelmingly won their seats on council.

Aldridge received the third most votes, surpassing Steven E. Burggraf and Doug Greathouse with 22.44 percent of the vote.

Aldridge was first elected 2006 and currently serves as on the city’s Planning and Economic Development and the Safety, Public Works and Utilities committees.

He said he would continue to ensure fiscal responsibility.

“We must make sure that police, fire and infrastructure services remain high in quality, while finding ways to hold off nonessential expenses,” Aldridge said.

Bray was first elected to council in January 2002, re-elected in 2006 and is currently serving as vice mayor and chairman of the finance committee.

“I was elected by the people to make sure we provide a safe place, parks, good streets and clean water at a reasonable price. And we do,” Bray said. “As you can expect, we have to tighten our belts, but Franklin is still in good shape financially. As long as I am councilman, I will always be a watchdog over your hard-earned tax dollar.”

Centers, a member of council since 2001, lauded the current panel’s foresight to curtail spending helped prevent layoffs and promised to continue to monitor the budget.

“Fiscal responsibility is key to good government and as a Franklin city councilman, I will continue to maintain fiscal responsibility.”
