A Middletown teenager will answer to grand theft charges among others after his arrest this week in Huber Heights near Dayton.
Middletown police said on Monday, June 22, the 16-year-old boy struck his father’s girlfriend in the face with a crowbar at his Tytus Avenue home during an argument about putting license plates on a van he had wanted to drive.
After the incident, the boy fled in the van and was arrested Tuesday, June 23, in Huber Heights.
He was arraigned Wednesday, June 24, in Butler County Juvenile Court, on charges of grand theft, obstructing official business and fleeing and eluding, according to court records.
The boy initially was charged with domestic violence, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, fleeing and eluding and obstructing official business.
According the report, the teen left the house in a white Ford van as police arrived. He reportedly drove the van through a gate behind the house before heading down a nearby alley.
He was arrested by Huber Heights police and transported to the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center in Dayton. His father’s girlfriend, Ruthie Rose, 42, was treated at Atrium Medical Center for her injuries.
Butler County juvenile court personnel said the teen is being held in the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center on charges issued there.
