FRANKLIN — A 23-year-old Dayton man wanted by police turned himself in Thursday afternoon.

Franklin Police Chief Russ Whitman said Jeffrey Guy Jr., 23 of the 200 block of Geneva Road in Dayton, called the department Thursday morning to let them know he was coming in and he showed up at approximately 2 p.m.

Guy was being sought by police for complaints of illegal drug activity on Monday in the area of the Franklin Commons Apartment Complex, police said. Authorities said an investigation revealed Guy sold heroin in the complex and fled the scene in his vehicle when officers approached.

Guy admitted during his interview with police that he saw himself on the WHIO.com website and decided to turn himself in, according to Whitman.

“That’s what we wanted to accomplish,” Whitman said. “Whether it was by actively pursuing him and him turning himself in, we got another suspected drug dealer off the road and that’s a good thing.”

Guy has been charged with trafficking, a second-degree felony, and with fleeing and eluding, a fourth-degree felony. If convicted, the first charge carries a possible sentence of two to eight years and a $15,000 fine. Being convicted of the second charge is punishable by 12 to 18 months and a $5,000 fine.

Guy is being held on a $57,500 bond in the Warren County Jail. He is scheduled to be video arraigned Friday.

He was recently released from the Noble Correctional Institute in November 2011, according to Whitman, after serving four years on a conviction for involuntary manslaughter.
