Shooting victim dies; more charges likely against Middletown woman

WAYNE TWP. — A 52-year-old man who was shot last mouth has died and a woman accused of shooting him will likely face a stiffer charge.

Gregory Manns of the 4000 block of Oxford-Middletown Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, according to Assistant Butler County Prosecutor Brad Burress. He was shot in the stomach at his home on Oct. 23.

Butler County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Cynthia Lee Turner, 47, of the 100 block of South Heinkel Road in Middletown, was arrested at the scene of the shooting and charged with felonious assault.

Burress said case will be presented to a Butler County grand jury soon and a murder charge likely would be considered.

A bond hearing was held Wednesday before Butler County Common Pleas Judge Michael Sage where Turner’s bond was increased from $250,000. Turner confessed to shooting Manns, according to deputies.

Lt. Mike Craft said detectives are still working to determine what occurred at the residence. The initial call placed to dispatchers by a neighbor said the shooting was accidental. He said Turner was staying with Manns at the time.
