A Middletown man was charged with a felony after an Oxford police officer was injured falling during a struggle with the teenager, according to police.
Jerry Barnett Jr., 18, was charged with obstructing official business, a fifth-degree felony, and underage intoxication, after police were called on a report of him being passed out in the lawn of a Vicki Anda Court residence at 10:16 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, according to a police report.
After police woke Barnett, he refused medical treatment and was arrested. He was allegedly uncooperative as officers arrested him, using a derogatory term and then vomiting in the back of the police cruiser, according to police.
At the Oxford police department, Barnett refused to leave with an adult who he was to be released to and as he was being escorted back into the jail, he allegedly began struggling with officers and an officer was knocked to the ground, hurting the left side of his body, according to a police report.
Barnett was booked into Butler County Jail, according to police. Barnett is scheduled to appear in Butler County Area I court for a preliminary hearing on Thursday, Dec. 3, according to court records.
