Police were dispatched to a home in the 500 block of Yankee Road, where a 30-year-old woman said she heard someone at her front door attempting to gain entry at approximately 3:30 a.m. The resident said she attempted to find her cell phone to call police, but was unable to locate it. She was able to scare the unknown subject away from the area by making noise inside of the house, according to police. Approximately 15 to 20 minutes later she reportedly heard the same noise again at her front door, but did not call police until the morning as she still could not find her phone. She told police the father of her child could have been the perpetrator, likely as retaliation for her taking him to court for child support. Police observed pry marks and scratches around the door, but could not locate the alleged burglar.

A Sears employee was arrested for allegedly stealing more than $2,400 from his employer. Police spoke with the store’s loss prevention officer, who said 20-year-old James Eschelman had been voiding transactions and pocketing money from his cash register. The officer said store records dating back to August found Eschelman had voids and cash missing from his drawer totaling $2,272. Eschelman allegedly took another $137 in merchandise from the store, including wiper blades, a radar detector and a bluetooth headset. Store representatives said Eschelman had admitted to taking the merchandise and voiding transactions to pocket money and had given them a signed statement saying as much. The loss prevention officer advised he would be following up on filing theft charges against Eschelman.
