SPRINGBORO — A 70-year-old Springboro man accused of threatening a woman with a gun was singing karaoke when police arrived at his home early Sunday, Nov. 15.
According to police reports:
Just after midnight Sunday, dispatchers told police that William D. Ellis, armed with a gun, was screaming at a woman locked in the bathroom.
Police from Springboro, Clearcreek Twp. and Franklin and Warren County sheriff’s deputies surrounded Ellis’ home at 105 Willow Drive.
Dispatchers told police Ellis was singing karaoke by the time they’d formed a perimeter around the house at 12:17 a.m.
While officers were waiting for the county’s special weapons and tactical team to arrive, Ellis exited the home and was taken into custody.
A gun was found under a couch in the living room, the woman in the bathroom was uninjured.
The woman told police Ellis became upset and began drinking after she declined to go to a bar with him.
Ellis is charged with aggravated menacing and using a weapon while intoxicated. He was free on $20,000 bond posted Monday, Nov. 16, according to Warren County court records.
