MADISON TWP., Butler County — A Madison Twp. man is in serious condition at a Dayton hospital following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning, Aug. 31, on Wayne-Madison Road.
Robert Tuttle, 20, of Wayne-Madison Road, was heading home from a shift at AK Steel’s Middletown Works and was just a few yards away from his driveway near the Thomas Road intersection when his truck apparently drifted left of center at about 7:45 a.m. and struck a sport-utility vehicle, according to Butler County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Gebhart.
Tuttle, who was trapped inside his vehicle, was extracted and then flown to Miami Valley Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition Tuesday afternoon, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
His mother, Melina Smith, said Tuesday night her son was stable, but still being treated in the trauma unit.
The SUV driver, Rita Stice of Preble County, was transported with a minor injury to Atrium Medical Center, where she was treated and released, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Gebhart said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
