MIDDLETOWN — A boy who was struck by a car was taken to Atrium Medical Center for observation.
The boy, described by police as between the ages of 7 and 9, was struck at about 6:30 p.m. by a Cadillac while crossing Roosevelt Avenue near Brentwood Street with two children.
“They were crossing the street and the older one said ‘Don’t go any further’ and he did,” Sgt. Jeff McGuire said.
The boy then fled after he was hit by the car traveling eastbound, and was standing when medics arrived, said Sgt. Jeff McGuire.
The driver of the Cadillac did stop after the accident and is not expected to be cited.
McGuire said the boy appeared to be OK.
“He was standing over there (with his hands clasped) saying, ‘I don’t want to get a shot,” McGuire said. “I felt sorry for the little guy.”
