MIDDLETOWN — Three people were charged with illegally manufacturing drugs in a Middletown home this week.

Police said a Dayton man and two Middletown women were actively operating a meth lab when officers arrived at 1505 Smith Ave. early Thursday, July 9.

Anista Hohenbrink, 33, of 1505 Smith Ave., Adrianne Perry, 25, and Robert Woods, 38, of Dayton, were arrested at about 12:15 a.m. and charged with the first-degree felony. They were arraigned Friday, July 10, in Middletown Municipal Court and will have preliminary hearings July 17.

Woods also had an arrest warrant through the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office for cocaine possession, said Sgt. David Birk, a Middletown narcotics supervisor.

Officers responded Thursday to a call to check the well-being of a child at the residence, said Birk. When police arrived, they did not find the child, but smelled chemicals cooking in the house.

Officers dispatched the narcotics unit, sending Birk’s troops and a HAZMAT crew on the case.

The child was later located at a friend’s house in Eaton, according to Birk.

Police confiscated chemicals used to make methamphetamines, three white substances now being tested at the Miami Valley Crime Lab, plastic jars and containers, a propane tank and lithium batteries among other items.

No weapons were found in the house, Birk said.

The Middletown Divison of Fire, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Eaton Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Riverside Police Department all responded to the lab, Birk said.

It’s been about seven years since the last meth lab bust in Middletown, according to Birk.

“These are very rare,” he said.

Bond was set at $100,000 for all three, who remain in the Middletown City Jail.
