HAMILTON — A local man was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of his sixth drunk driving charge.
Hamilton police arrested Thomas J. Combs, 50, of 1008 Westview Ave., just before 2 a.m., May 29, after witnesses said he struck a utility pole and parked car with his Ford Taurus in the 700 block of Millikin Street, according to reports.
When police asked Combs how much he had to drink, the local man responded, “I’m drunk, what can I say?” according to reports. When he was asked to perform certain field sobriety tests, he was unable to finish, telling police, “Ain’t happening.”
Combs was placed under arrest, and a later test determined his blood alcohol level to be 0.194, according to reports, or more than two times Ohio’s legal limit of 0.08.
He was charged with two counts of fourth-degree felony OVI — the second, because of his blood alcohol level.
Combs has five prior OVI convictions. According to court records, Combs was convicted in 1990, 1996, 2000, 2003 and 2006.
He's due in Hamilton Municipal Court later this week.
