We Christians will no longer be silent. Our rights have been suppressed far too long by the left-wing people. The moral values of this country have been trampled on for years. Those values have made this country great and we Christians want those values restored.

The Democratic Party did (itself) no good service by using the Hollywood crowd, pop singers and the likes of Michael Moore and George Soros, all of them agreeing with a man who approves of abortion, gay marriage, stem-cell research These things are a disgrace to our country and definitely against biblical teaching. No persons calling themselves a Christian should agree with this agenda. We wanted a man in the White House who holds our Christian values and is not afraid to stand up for them.

Maybe “God should not be in politics” as some claim, but He was with us this time. My prayer was that God would put the right man in the White House and He made His choice.

‘Democrats lose credibility when

The Democratic Party lost in the election for many reasons but, for a lot of Americans, they voted for President Bush and the Republicans simply because they didn’t trust the Democrats with their vote. For many, the Republicans are seen as a party more guided by principles, and the Democrats more guided by rhetoric and a quest for power.

Democrats lose credibility when they claim to be the party of fiscal restraint but are known by their record to favor big government and spending.

Democrats lose credibility when they articulate a strong anti-terrorism platform, but embrace Michael Moore at the DNC and promote some of the most extreme vitriol and rhetoric against the president in a time of war.

Democrats lose credibility when they claim to be supportive of religious and moral values, but they align themselves with and pander to far-left groups like the ACLU and pro-abortion lobbies that have no problem attacking most forms of religious expression and defend what many see as infanticide, i.e. partial-birth abortion.

In short, Democrats lost because many people do not find the Democratic Party credible or trustworthy on issues that matter most, and fear a party that promotes extreme rhetoric as a substitute for rational and civil policy discussions.

‘Who decides what is moral?’

I thought politics and religion were to be separate. I thought religion was a personal thing. Now we breed hate for people who are different. By passing Issue 1, we breed prejudice.

People have lived together since time began. Where does it say Adam and Eve were married? Man made these laws to fit themselves. Look at the divorce rate

Blacks couldn’t marry whites because man decided. Blacks were not equal, according to man’s laws.

Then there was change. This entire election came down to the morals of man. Who decides what is moral?

Love is a feeling. Love is beautiful. Love and compassion stop wars and this campaign bred hate of other people who are different and who pay taxes just like everyone else.

I, for one, will walk down the mall with the person I love and hold their hand at the risk of my life, so your children can see the love I have for my partner. And someday we will have a generation of non-prejudiced people

‘I would call you if

Don’t worry, Mr. Thatcher. I won’t be calling you to repair the potholes on my street, nor will I be calling or supporting you at voting time.

I would call you if I wanted to buy some land you own to build a new hospital that we do not need

I might call you to join you on a trip with council members to visit a casino on taxpayers’ money. That money could have been used to repair some potholes or to collect some leaves from our curbs.

I would call you if I had a party at my house and police were called because of a disturbance, to use your influence and rudely remind the police of your position on City Council. I would call you to remind you that your position on council is to serve the people, not for your personal gain.

I would like to thank the Middletown Journal for making Sound Off and letters to the editor accessible to their readers so that they might be able to voice their opinions. You are a great newspaper. I’m glad our City Council has no part in the publication.
