Ohio Third Frontier hosts tech validation and start-up fund workshop

The Ohio Third Frontier and YourEncore will host a workshop and bidder’s conference on Thursday for potential applicants to the Technology Validation and Start-up Fund program (TVSF). The conference will be held at 10 a.m. at TechColumbus, 1275 Kinnear Road, Columbus.

Eligible lead applicants for Phase 1 TVSF awards are technology transfer offices of Ohio colleges and universities, and other not-for-profit research organizations. Phase I funds are intended to generate the proof needed to move technology to the point that it is ready to be licensed by an Ohio start-up company. Phase 2 awards are for Ohio start-ups that intend to license validated technology from a Phase 1 eligible organization.

The workshop is intended to inform potential applicants about the TVSF program and the business milestones that need to be achieved to fulfill its intent. Members of the Ohio Department of Development will be available to answer questions related to the application process.

In April, the Ohio Third Frontier Commission recommended more than $948,000 in funding through the TVSF.
