MONROE — Kristina Centers believes all women have an inner strength.

That is why the 42-year-old wife and mother of two decided to launch an online clothing business called Fight Her, LLC to convey that message.

The clothing line for women features T-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, hoodies, flannel pajamas, underwear and sweats that communicate their own personal struggles such as cancer, peace and stress.

Her business slogan is “Make Strength Your Favorite Accessory.”

“Accessorizing it for me means putting it out there for people to see. I think everybody just has their own strength and some people don’t think they have it, and they really do,” she said.

Centers, a contracts manager for Baker Concrete Construction in Monroe, said the inspiration to start her own business came last year after her husband, John, Monroe’s assistant fire chief suffered a heart attack on the job and had to undergo emergency surgery.

She said there was a moment that she and her sons, Cameron and Cody, thought they might lose him, but as a mother she found strength.

Centers said after telling her husband she was frightened, he told her if anything happens to him she would be OK because, “you’re a fighter, remember?”

Centers repeated his words and saw the words “fight her,” and that is when she decided to share the idea with family and friends.

The logo includes a female symbol and a “Fight Her” F&H on the back of every shirt, she said.

“The main design is on the front like a pink ribbon or fire design and then it has ‘Fight Her’ on the front. I have to have a reason behind each shirt,” Centers said.

Her T-shirts include designs for the military, police and fire personnel, breast cancer supporters or other support groups.

“Everybody just kind of has a different reason for wearing them. It’s been really nice because people tell me their stories and I never get tired of hearing stories. That’s what makes my day,” Centers said.

The clothing sizes run from small to 2XL, but sizes eventually will go to 4XL. Prices range from $15 to $40 for items, she said.
