Staff Report
Fifth Third Bank customers might soon be able to deposit in an ATM up to 50 cash bills and checks at the same time, instead of inserting items one-at-a-time.
Fifth Third announced Tuesday a partnership with ATM-maker NCR Corp. and software-maker Phoenix Interactive to offer ATM mixed-media, and said it’s the first superregional bank in the country to do this.
The technology is being piloted at Fifth Third’s downtown Cincinnati headquarters with plans to start deploying the function in other places by the end of the year, Fifth Third said.
Customers will be able to mix up to 50 combined checks and bills in a single, envelope-free ATM deposit, and do the deposit twice as fast as traditional ATM deposits, the banking company said.
Kevin Kabat, president and chief executive officer of Fifth Third Bancorp, said in a statement with the release, “With the help of NCR and Phoenix, we can offer our customers the ability to make mixed-media deposits simpler and faster, thereby improving the overall customer experience.”
