Female-owned firm expanding staff, facilities in Springboro

By Lawrence Budd

Staff Writer

SPRINGBORO — A female-owned manufacturing and engineering company in Springboro plans to add up to five more employees this year and expand its facilities next year to capitalize on federal contract opportunities.

Company officials said Connective Design Inc. already added three workers since moving in October 2010 into a new building off Ohio 741, south of the Austin Boulevard interchange on Interstate 75, in Springboro. The company currently employs 10 in facilities in the South Tech Business Park.

Company President Danya Chandler is projecting continued growth as a result of new federal programs designed to award up to 5 percent of federal contracts to woman-owned small businesses.

Originally a distributor of electrical components, Connective Design is now a manufacturer and custom and reverse engineering firm specializing in contacts, connectors and assemblies including obsolete and sole-source components.
