Boehner’s annual farm forum to be held Saturday

PIQUA — U.S. Rep. John Boehner (R-West Chester) will host his 19th annual 8th District Farm Forum from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 13, at Edison Community College, 1973 Edison Drive.

Panel discussions will focus on food safety and sustainability, animal welfare and energy prices. Lunch is free, and is being provided by the Ohio Pork Producers Council, according to Boehner spokesman Cory Fritz.

Frank Lucas, ranking member of the House agriculture committee, will be the keynote speaker.

Panelists will include U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Urbana); Elizabeth Harsh, executive director, Ohio Cattlemen’s Association; Anthony Reed, senior director of government relations, Archer Daniels Midland; Karen Chasez, vice president of procurement, PotashCorp.; Bryan Black, past president, National Pork Producers Council; J. Patrick Boyle, president and chief executive officer of the American Meat Institute.

Doors open for registration at 9:30 a.m.
