3 economic development groups in Ohio among nation’s best, report says

Site Selection magazine has named three economic development organizations in Ohio as among the best in the nation.The magazine on Monday awarded honorable mentions to the Wayne County EDC in Wooster, Columbus 2020 and the Cincinnati USA Partnership.

Local economic groups were first ranked according to new jobs, new jobs per 10,000 residents, new investment amount and new investment per 10,000 residents, the magazine said. They then were scrutinized for more subjective attributes, among them innovation, leadership and customer service.

Site Selection also named the Virginia Economic Development Partnership the winner of its Competitiveness Award, which recognizes excellence on the part of a state-level economic development group.

The award goes to the state with the most points earned in a 10-factor index based mainly on Site Selectionn publisher Conway Data Inc.’s new plant database of new and expanded facilities. For 2011, Virginia scored 420.5 points, followed by Texas with 395, Ohio with 387.5 points, Louisiana with 382.5 points, and North Carolina with 381.5 points.
