Do you think Obama can win the presidency without Ohio?

I suppose I could be a bit behind the “progressives” that support Obama. However, if being progressive means sticking my head up my posterior, count me out. Who cares if Obama is bi-racial? I simply do not believe in his politics. He supports causes that turn my stomach. And for the naive people buying into the Bakari Lumumba identity, his email is listed as james.holt2@va.gov. You’re not Bakari yet, Mr. Holt, according to the Dayton Daily News. Don’t bother with me. I’m not that dumb…

As for johnny boy. and hugh, first of all i normally wouldnt be caught dead anywhere near dayton, newspaper. My best friend of 5 years live there, he called me and told me to read how blatantly racist his city is, and how appalled he is of it. I was compelled to make a comment. He knows that i totally blame states like this for putting the crackhead and drunk in the whitehouse, all that followed….war, economy, constitutional laws being broken, and 911. I WILL NEVER SET FOOT IN THAT STATE EVER

You unintentionally typed two different things with the same overall message? did the post button activate on it’s own? Maybe your blackberry has a virus. Or maybe you’re an idiot.

If you’re driving, just drop me off at your mom’s house. She’s texted me way too may times today, better just go get it over with.

My double post was unintentional, and did not appear until several minutes later. Sorry Hugh, but I fail to see the correlation between posting something twice and being idle. In fact, I’m posting from a Blackberry as I drive the short bus you’re riding.

Here’s how you can tell if someone who was born in Dayton has spent their life in Dayton & still lives in Dayton…they still have that little reptillian tail dragging behind them. Buch of corndog-eating white trash hillbilly cracker riff-raff. Your city is in the bottom of the toilet where it belongs and it’s EXACTLY what your unevolved narrow racist hateful minds have provided for you,…it’s what you deserve because you simply cannaot adapt, like the lizzards you are. P.S.Johnny boy = Filth!

In the past two elections, Ohio voters supported a tragically underqualified boob who has since led the nation into a phony war and a long list of snowballing economic and environmental crises. Given the chance, they would do it again. So, can a presidential candidate win the election without winning Ohio? Let’s hope so.

Proud of Ohio: Our “card” is being white. Further, somehow I doubt any black person would admit to playing any “card” to a white person. To all the resentful white people on this site: about 80% of the population is white, so I don’t think you have anything to worry about. I am fortunate enough to be supporting a candidate that transcends the race issue, unlike many of the opponents’ supporters on this blog.

For all you people who “hate” Ohio, do yourself (and us) a favor and leave. No one is holding you here. For you people who have already “fled” Ohio and are relieved, why bother keeping up with DNN to see what is going on in this state?

As far as Obama goes, I could care less the color of his skin, it is most definitely the content of his character that I am completely opposed to!

We did it enthusiastically? Yeah, we knew all that was going to happen, and we smiled all the way to the voting booth. And we’d do it again? Did you conduct a poll on this? Maybe we should just all ask you what we should do since you seem to know everything without even asking. And how does the current administration’s mistakes make Ohioan’s lazy? Get off your soapbox, or back it up with some fact.

By Alice

Doesn’t matter because he’ll win Ohio. I also think this story is misleading in that Obama’s campaign have been aggressively campaigning in the battleground states - he was just here for heaven’s sake as was his wife! With all the money we have been donating to defeat McCain, I GUARANTEE Obama will not ignore Ohio.

In the past two presidential elections, Ohio voters enthusiastically enabled a tragically underqualified boob to lead our nation into a phony, economically catastrophic war while providing generous tax shelters to the rich and to companies who ship our jobs overseas. Given the chance, they would do it again. Therefore, winning a national election without winning Ohio would be a great step forward for America and a wake-up call for the lazy, misinformed Ohio electorate.

No I dont have it better I’m actually going for the first time IN October. If you knew anything Proud of ohio you would know it eremely expenisve to to travel there my plan ticket is 2567. Secondly blacks can not be racist in this country we can have racial prejudice but racism deals power and control. Something we do not have in this country. Thirdly blacks view and feelings towards whites are based on fact. while whites views of non-whites are based on fiction. Read a book and learn

Im from va beach va, but i live in atlanta ga. I have a few good friends in ohio, and two nephews that live there. I beg them to leave that backwards a*s state often. They re coming around slowly. And you are right, you did put that crackhead of a president bush back in the whitehouse, and your state has suffered every since. Your unemployment has been one of the hightest in the country for 4 years. In the famous words of Janet Jackson, WHAT HAVE THE REPUBLICANS DONE FOR YOU LATELY???

Hey Bakari Lumumba if you really wanted to live in Africa you would already be there. You have it too good in the states. And in case the readers haven’t heard some black people are racists. It is not one sided. I worked with a black girl who came out and told me she was playing the race card at work because it was the only way she would the job she wanted. I lost all respect that day for people like her. White people don’t have “cards” to play.

I see if you don’t support Obama you are a racist. Interesting. For those that say Ohio is a backward state, check out the student test scores, and the results of the national science olympiad the last 10 years. OH basically sweeps the competition. I guesss were all just a bunch of backward idiots since we don’t support BO.

I lived in a lot of different states and Ohio is extremely racist. I am glad Ohio won’t be needed to get Obama elected. Some people in Ohio are very fearful of Obama because of his skin color. But, I also realize, that some people who oppose Obama are judging him on his poloicy. Bravo for those Americans. We as a people can ask for nothing more than a person to be judge by the content and not the color. If people oppose the content, it’s okay. I hope Obama wins.

Osama Obama can’t win WITH Ohio!! The latest from the caves of Afghanistan is that if the U.S. doesn’t get out of Iraq, they are going to take away our supply of 7-11 store operators and Presidential candidates and if that doesn’t work, taxi drivers, Motel 6 managers, and possible Dell and AOL Customer Service reps will be next. It’s getting ugly…..

Born in Ohio and have lived elsewhere by choice for many years. In my experience, Ohio is a backward, racist state that is about as ignorant and non-progressive as possible. Just above Alabama & Mississippi in stupidity, corruption, and political childishness. Reading your posts, I see not a THING has chaged since I so glaldy left your toilet-of-a-state oh those many many happy years ago. You folks are so defensive and provinical and ignorant, you don’t even know it. That’s how stupid you are.

Well, if Obama IS the anti-christ, then count me in. That’s all I needed to hear. The last thing we need is 4 more years with another wingnut born-again failure like we have now. The Pastor-in-Chief is absolutely the very very worst pres in my 60 year lifetime. Lying criminal war-mongering draft-dodging chicken hawk coward that he is. You fools in Ohio will do it again, won’t you? Elect another loser if given half the chance. Haven’t you been to enough funerals for soldiers?

Yes, contrary to the delusions of many in our area, Ohio, and even less Butler Co, are the center of our nation’s politics. Thank god! If we were a bell weather, this county would still be run by Boss Hog and decrepit old men whose only interest is lining their pockets and keeping out any new ideas. Long live provincialism and irrelevance!

Well said John Doe and Annie. I too am sick of hearing Pres. Bush being responsible for all of our problems. And Annie, you’re right on the money with your comments. Unfortunately if Obama does make it into office, we’re going to have to live with another 4 years of Carter. I hope their dead wrong in believing that Ohio and Florida are not required for victory. I am a diehard conservative without a candidate in this year’s election, but I will vote for McCain to keep my vote from helping Obama.

Having trouble with this site…hope this isn’t a duplicate post. I just wanted to point out that no member of our federal, state, or local government held a gun to your head, forcing you to sign the mortgage papers. If you chose a bad mortgage deal, it’s your own stupid fault. You should have done the homework. For the sake of our country’s future, all whiners should MAN UP and take responsibility for their own actions/inactions. The government is not my keeper, nor should it be yours.

Are we actually expected to believe the poor little white men are being discriminated against? Look at the composition of Congress, at the governors, at the CEOs of big business, at the Republicaqn Party. Mostly white guys. Who makes more money? White guys. Who is more likely to be promoted? White guys.
As to winning the Presidency without Ohio? I don’t know, but I don’t think Obama will have to find out. There’s Bud and Bud Lite. McCain is Bush Old.

Typical arrogance from a candidate who is out of touch with Middle America. Ohio represents a cross section of this country. Sour grapes Obama since you lost the Ohio primary to Hillary! Since the 1840’s Ohio has provided more presidents and more influential leaders then any other state. Barack needs a history lesson!

I hope that all of you Democrats are ready for what happens if Obama picks Hillary and they win. A lot of us will be moving to Canada. You think things are bad now, JUST WAIT. I am also sick of Bush being blamed for EVERYTHING.He is ONE MAN. Look to CONGRESS and the SUPREME COURT. They are to blame for a LOT of the problems. The Democrats, in the last 1.5 years have done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in CONGRESS.

Ken Blackwell did not lose the last governor’s race because his name was Blackwell. Some have failed to note that Ohio governors and US Senators have all be white males. Ohio often makes southern states look progressive.

By Jim 5

June 16, 2008 11:32 AM | Link to this

Obama is planning to ignore the white males in this election. His support of affirmative action tells us that “I will continue to support the legalized discrimination that is currently passing as constitutional” (just like slavery once did - see Dred Scott). The Obama campain manager stated that Florida and Ohio are “not necessary”. An intelligent look at the demographic results of the primary shows Ohio as a state where Obama did especially poorly among white males.

By Alice

Equal rights for white males? Are serious Jim5??????? Wait… don’t answer that.

By Daytonian

A more relevant question is that of why Americans keep voting for the same two irrelevant parties that no longer represent them and only offer them the same leftover ideas each election. I can not in good conscience support either candidate or party anymore and plan to vote for a third party candidate to register my disgust with what passes for government these days. But until people start voting third party, it’s Republicrap or Democrap: take your pick.

By axt113

June 16, 2008 11:09 AM | Link to this

Jim 5, when did he say he was ignoring Ohio and Florida, are you that stupid? Did you not read? Winning Ohio and Florida would be great, but focusing all your effort on Ohio and Florida would be stupid, it didn’t work in the past, fighting across all 50 states will make it more likely you can win, even if you lose in Ohio and Florida

By Ohio the heart of it all

Ohio decides and I guess always will. I do hope that Obama doesn’t write us off, that’s just why the Obama/Clinton ticket is so important! With Hill on the ticket Ohio is in the bag. McSame won’t take us buckeyes. He/Bush already has most of us in foreclosure court!

You can win the White house with out winning Ohio, we are not king makers in this state. I do not however see how either canidate can “write off” a state. the last several presidential elections have been very close. Unfortunately for us this year is once again a choice of lesser evils. I want to write in cthulu as a presidential canidate

Ohio shouldn’t matter in the vote this year. Seeing that our population is way down and by November we should be around the same population as Nevada it won’t matter. Plus I decided not to vote this year. Leadership in the United States is NULL and void, well good leadership is. I am actually taking a position in Canada this July and plan on becoming a citizen there.

Thanks Gov Stirckland for making Ohio even more irrelevant. Your support for Hillary will cause Obama to ignore Ohio now and once he is in office.

By Jim 5

It is telling to hear the candidate who preaches “change” now planning who to ignore in his strategy to get to the White House. Now that he is winning the game, the game seems less in need of change. The bigger question beyond which states will follow Obama, is: How many white males will stand up for the repeal of affirmative action (discrimination) and demand equal rights?

When Ohio was a big deal what happened? Has George W. Bush done anything for the state that re-elected him? This stae has been in recession ever since and I would like some investigative journalism as to what Bush hss done which has helped.

In my opinion, there is no way he could take the house without taking Ohio or Florida. 2 major battle ground states and they arent concerned with them?! I think they need to re-think their strategy and give OH and FL a little more consideration. The race is closer than they think in these 2 states!!

You can follow the money of big business and see who will be the next president. They know how to pick a horse. They bought the last president and they’ll buy the next one too. Obama is getting all the big business money.
