CARLISLE — When Emily Hale opened this month's issue of Country Weekly, she couldn't believe her eyes.
In December, the Carlisle High School senior submitted a drawing of singer-songwriter Taylor Swift to the nationally circulated magazine for their "Draw A Star" feature.
"I honestly didn't think it would be in there because I hadn't heard anything back," she said. "I couldn't believe it when I opened the page."
Hale said she has been drawing pictures of Swift, who is best known for her hits "Our Song" and "I'm Only Me When I'm With You," since the first time she saw her, and submitted the artwork — her personal favorite — to Country Weekly after Swift's manager suggested it.
"I'm a huge fan of hers. I go to her concerts all the time," Hale said. "I honestly didn't think it would get published, but it did and I'm ecstatic."
Country Weekly isn't the only place to find Swift this month. She's also gracing the covers of Seventeen, Rolling Stone and Blender magazine.
As for drawing, this picture surely won't be Hale's last. She's headed to Savannah College of Art and Design, in Savannah, Ga., where she plans to study interior design.
