TRENTON — Adoptable pets are hoping for a treat this weekend.
The Animal Friends Humane Society is having its third annual HowlFest from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Extras
Visitors can walk a dog on the shelter's haunted nature trail. Treats also will be available to give to the more than 200 pets now at the shelter, said director Leland Gordon.
There also will be a barbecue and candy for children, he said.
"HowlFest is an opportunity to have lots of fun while learning more about pet care," Gordon said.
A veterinarian from Home Sweet Home Mobile Vet Care will be at the event from 2 to 4 p.m. Low income residents of Butler County can bring their pets to be examined for free with proof of income or government assistance.
There also will be $15 microchipping, dog licenses and ID tags available and visitors can get free pet training DVDs. A half-hour volunteer orientation will begin at 1 p.m.
Anyone adopting a pet will receive a free pumpkin and can enter to win a year's supply of Science Diet dog food.
