CARLISLE — The Board of Education Monday formally endorsed an amendment to the Ohio Constitution concerning the funding of public education.
The board voted 4-0 to approve the endorsement with Allen abstaining because of the bill's language that conflicts with his position as Carlisle's member of the Miami Valley Career Technology Center board, according to Carlisle Superintendent Tim McLinden.

The proposed amendment is designed to guarantee "a high-quality education" and would shift the funding burden from the local taxpayers to the state level.
Supporters hope to place the proposed amendment on the Nov. 6 general election ballot.
In other business, the board:

Grigsby Intermediate School Principal David Starkey; Alden Brown Elementary Principal Allyson Couch; and Dan Turner, Carlisle High School assistant principal.
A two-year extension was granted to Matt Bishop, Carlisle High School principal.
McLinden said no action was taken by the board Monday for a proposed three-year extension for Mike Milner, Chamberlain Middle School principal; and a two-year extension for Bob Fischer, Chamberlain Middle School assistant principal.
