MAGYC GOLF COMPETITION SERIES BEGINS: The Middletown Area Golf for Youth Council will hold a junior golf competition on Thursday, July 16. Cost is $12 (includes lunch) for the individual stroke play event. Boys and girls age groups are as follows: 10 and under, 11-12, 13-14 and 15 and over. Registration is by mail only, and forms can be downloaded at www.magyc.org. Tee times will be posted on the Web site 48 hours prior to each event.

SPRINGBORO DESTROYERS HOLDING TRYOUTS: The Springboro Destroyers Youth 9, Youth 11 RED and Youth 12 Blue baseball teams are searching for players. Tryouts for Youth 9 will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, and again from 4 to 5 p.m. on July 26. Tryouts for the Youth 11 team will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on July 25 and from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on July 26. Tryouts for the Youth 12 team will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, and again from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on July 26. All tryouts will be held at the baseball fields behind Coffman YMCA. Players should arrive at least 10 minutes early for registration. HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL SHOWCASE AT KINGDOM: Registration is taking place for boys and girls teams for the High School Basketball Showcase Tournament to be held July 24-26 at Kingdom Sports Center in Franklin. CARLISLE YOUTH SOCCER CAMP JULY 20-21: The Carlisle High School girls soccer program will host its annual youth soccer came on July 20-21 at the Carlisle SAY soccer fields. Cost is $20 for ages 4-5 (6 to 7:30 p.m.) and $25 for ages 6 and up (6 to 8 p.m.). Registration forms are available at www.carlislesaysoccer.org, or you may register the first night of camp. T-shirt is included with registration.

MADISON HAS COACHING OPENINGS: Madison High School is seeking coaching candidates for junior varsity volleyball, junior varsity girls tennis, junior varsity boys soccer, seventh grade boys basketball and freshman boys basketball. SENIOR PICKLEBALL TOURNEY IN MIDDLETOWN: The public is invited to compete in the Senior Pickleball Tournament July 31 and Aug. 1 at Middletown’s Lefferson Park. Free lessons are available at Lefferson. Courts are open at 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; and at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Tournament entry deadline is July 25.
