David Perkins of South Bend, Ind., on Wednesday became the latest blue-chip prospect to commit to Ohio State, The Columbus Dispatch reported.
“I feel like OSU always bounces back,” Perkins, designated an “athlete” by recruiting analysts but who expects to play linebacker for the Buckeyes, told the newspaper.
“For proof you can look back and see that OSU, no matter what, returns to greatness, and that’s no matter who is the head of it,” Perkins continued.
“OSU is always full of good people and is always going to be a top program. And this class will be looked at as reassurance of that, the class reassuring greatness, prestige, competition and great character.”
Ohio State had a hard time keeping the interest of big-time prospects after head coach Jim Tressel’s forced resignation in May because of NCAA rules violations.
But the recent hiring of Urban Meyer seems to have changed all that.
