Madison scores win over Dixie
NEW LEBANON — Madison’s boys basketball team, playing with a full complement of players for the first time since the third game of the season, defeated Dixie 60-49 on Tuesday night.
The Mohawks (8-9, 3-6 in the Southwestern Buckeye League) had a balanced attack led by Joey Adleta and Jeff Clemons, both with 12 points and 11 rebounds; Alec Berry, 11 points; and Kyle Shouse, 10 points.
Dixie slipped to 11-6 overall.

Franklin to hold registration
FRANKLIN — The Franklin Recreation Association will hold baseball and fastpitch softball sign-ups through March 8.
Registration will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at Franklin Self Storage.
Additional locations are Franklin Public Library, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 11 and 18, and Franklin High School lobby, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 25 and 6 to 9 p.m. March 3.

Miami favored to win MAC East
OXFORD — Miami University’s softball team is the favorite to win the Mid-American Conference East Division according to the preseason coaches’ poll, released Tuesday by the MAC office.
The RedHawks received 10 first-place votes. Kent State received the other two and was picked to finish second. Western Michigan was picked to win the MAC West Division.
Miami returns 14 lettermen from a team that finished 32-22, 13-9 in the MAC, including 2011 MAC Pitcher of the Year Jessica Simpson.
Miami opens its season against Southern Illinois on Saturday in Woodstock, Ga., at the Kennesaw State University Classic.

Middletown Christian holds on
MIDDLETOWN — The Middletown Christian boys basketball team withstood a fourth-quarter onslaught by Troy Christian to win 68-61 Tuesday night.
Troy Christian scored 34 points in the fourth quarter after trailing 44-27 going into the period.
The Eagles (12-5, 7-3 Metro Buckeye Conference) were led by Drew King with 17 points and Josh Hall and Josh Hutson with 15 apiece.

Edgewood falls to Talawanda
TRENTON — Austin Davidson scored 23 points to lead Talawanda’s boys basketball team over Edgewood 59-52 in a Fort Ancient Valley Conference game Tuesday night.
The Cougars (1-16, 1-10 FAVC) were led by Chance Conley with 21 points.
