Prep basketball roundup: Indians fall to Brookville

BOYS BASKETBALL

BROOKVILLE 51, CARLISLE 48: Josh Koogle scored 15 points and Tyler Dean added 13 in a losing effort as the visiting Indians (5-11) fell to the Blue Devils Tuesday, Feb. 2, in Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division play. Jason Stone and Matt McIntosh scored 12 points apiece to lead Brookville (5-9).

MIAMI VALLEY 60, MIDDLETOWN CHRISTIAN 41: The Eagles fell to 2-14 overall and 1-7 in the Metro Buckeye Conference with Tuesday’s road loss. Daniel Balsbaugh scored 18 points and Zach Wise added 11 for MCS. Miami Valley (8-8, 5-3) was led by Corey Roe’s 20 points.

VALLEY VIEW 63, WEST CARROLLTON 57: The host Spartans trailed by as many as 20 in the first but rallied to notch the non-league win over the Pirates. Ricky Denny led the Valley View comeback with 29 points. Kyle Pohl added 18 for the Spartans. West Carrollton’s Tyron Harris led all scorers with 31 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

CARLISLE 70, DIXIE 49: The Indians broke open a one-point game at halftime with a 25-6 surge in the third quarter Tuesday en route to a Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division win over the Greyhounds. Alexis Murphy scored 17 points and Donna Holbrook added 14 for Carlisle (14-4, 6-4). The Indians return to the court Thursday at Preble Shawnee.

BOYS BOWLING

FRANKLIN 2,537, MIAMISBURG 2,223: Franklin defeated Miamisburg on Monday, Feb. 1 led by James Bunnell with a 511 series. Dylan Colton topped Miamisburg with a 483 series.

GIRLS BOWLING

FRANKLIN 1,716, MIAMISBURG 1,699: Franklin topped Miamisburg on Monday, Feb. 1 led by Kayla Hurt with a 324 series. Jenna Colton led Miamisburg with a 348 series.

WRESTLING

SPARTANS HAVE THREE CHAMPS AT EATON INVITE: Valley View had three individual champions on Saturday, Jan. 30 at the Eaton Invitational. David Day added another tournament title to his resume by winning the 189-pound title. Bryan Day also won at 215 and Justin Blue won his first-ever title at 285. Other placers for the Spartans were Michael Land (145) and Shawn Focht (215) in third place, Caleb Isaacs (152) in fifth and Scottie Lakes (103) and Clayton Williams (119) in sixth. Valley View was fifth in the team standings and will host the Southwestern Buckeye League tournament on Feb. 12-13.
