SPRINGBORO — Springboro High School’s girls basketball team is coming off one of its better seasons in recent memory.

The Panthers (23-3) won 18 games in a row to make it all the way to the Division I regional final.

That has the returning players and coach Tom Benjamin excited about the season ahead.

“What we did last year was really good and I hope it was a benefit to us,” Benjamin said. “We are going to be a good team, but right now I have some concerns.”

Benjamin’s concerns focus mostly on the defensive side of the ball.

“We have no speed and we’re not where we need to be rebounding the ball,” he said.

The Panthers grabbed 575 rebounds last year to rank eighth overall in the Greater Western Ohio Conference.

They were sixth in offensive rebounds with 213.

Springboro led the Greater Western Ohio Conference in scoring with an average of 62.1 points per game.

“Offensively, it’s going to be important for us to make the shots we take and, right now, we are not doing that,” Benjamin said. “The level of patience is not going to be long if this continues.”

Springboro returns leading scorer Jordan Trimarco (12.8 ppg) and has nine seniors.
