MIDDLETOWN — The visiting Hamilton High School girls basketball team used a 25-7 surge in the second quarter on its way to a 67-42 win over Middletown on Wednesday night at Paul Walker Gym.
Jillian Spurlock led Hamilton (10-5, 4-5 GMC) with 27 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Desiree Ash added 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Hannah Keene also notched a double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds.
Middletown (5-11, 1-9) was led by Vada Edwards, who had 19 points, 10 rebounds and five steals. Korie Roberts added 10 points for the Middies, who travel to Mason on Saturday.
Harrison 32, Edgewood 28: Nikki Ferneding scored 12 points off the bench to lift the visiting Wildcats past the Cougars in Fort Ancient Valley Conference West Division play.
Amanda Hobbs scored 13 points to lead Edgewood, which shot just 22.5 percent (9-of-40) from the field. The Cougars, who fell to 10-6, 5-5, visit Talawanda on Saturday.
Harrison improves to 7-8, 7-3.
Troy 49, Lebanon 44: The host Warriors outscored the Trojans 18-6 in the final quarter but fell short in a Greater Western Ohio Conference crossover game.
The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Lebanon (6-9). Troy improves to 10-5.
The Warriors were led by Gracen Howard, who scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Samantha Showalter and Leah Perry added nine points apiece for the Warriors, who travel to Fairborn on Saturday.
