Prep roundup: Madison girls thump Shawnee 70-15

CAMDEN — Madison High School’s girls basketball team stormed to a 39-2 halftime lead and buried host Preble Shawnee 70-15 on Thursday night.

Meghan Miller (15), Josey Harding (14), Brittany Shields (13) and Meghan Robinson (10) were the top scorers for the Mohawks, who improved to 11-0 overall and 5-0 in the Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division.

Madison played without senior point guard Abby Jerger. Mohawks coach John Rossi confirmed that she will miss the rest of the season after tearing her ACL on Dec. 30.

Sidney Brown and Kaela Mertz scored five points apiece to lead the Arrows (1-9, 1-4).

Both teams are back in action on the road Saturday afternoon. Madison faces Dixie, while Shawnee plays Carlisle.

Eaton 45, Franklin 21: The visiting Wildcats managed just 12 points in the first three quarters and fell to 2-7 overall and 0-4 in the Southwestern Buckeye League Southwestern Division.

Chrissy Robinson’s seven points led Franklin, which travels to Brookville on Saturday.

Dayton Oakwood 50, Monroe 38: Reegan Reece and Noel Thompson both scored 11 points for the visiting Hornets, who slipped to 2-9 overall and 0-5 in the Southwestern Buckeye League Southwestern Division.

Monroe hosts Fenwick on Monday.
